Last week I was definitely spreading some ideas among my friends and esteemed colleagues. That I was going to attend my first ever TED talk in Singapore. I also made subtle mentions through my Facebook status updates and maybe one or two or even more on my tweets. I was clearly excited. I am a big fan. I find the whole idea behind TED interesting and mind-boggling at the same time.
Why would people gather in auditoriums around the world listening to people talking about all sorts of subject from excrement to nuclear biology to spirituality. Every now and then I came across one of these TED talks video and sometimes the impact is mind boggling. One such video was a presentation by an Indian Spiritual Guru at TED Indian 2009 - Sadguru Jaggi Vasudev.
As an Indian you always feel that you are connected to a bigger ocean of mysticism and contemplation. The advent of the Indian civilization and Hindu as a religion always intrigued me. As I grew older I started questioning my belief and my perception of the world we live in. Suddenly the above video changed my fundamental belief of life and my existence.
I started enjoying this ethereal vision. Mind you I re-watched this video like 100 times. I am listening to it now while I am typing this blog. It’s not that I do not understand but I want to extend my comprehension and appreciation for what it was discussed in that video. Watch the video and let me know what you think or not.
On a lighter note I also wanted to share another talk about political satire TED Talk by the fabulous Jo Kukathas (@JoKukathas) from Malaysia. This was another video that blew my mind away with the topics revolving around inter-dependance, democracy and identify unifications from a society view.
Let me know what you think about TED Talk.. Share them in the comment box or send me a tweet @gpoovan with hashtag #TEDxSG.
I will be writing another post on a TEDxSingapore event that I attended last weekend. In the event I was also fortunate to be part of a project called Personal State: Decoding the Condition of Collective Memory. Stay tuned..
