Google Reader is dead. Long live Google Reader.

Google Reader dies this weekend, but it’s just the latest in a long list of Google products that have met their ignominious end on Google CEO Larry Page’s chopping block.

Reader, iGoogle, Google Talk, Google Health, Knol, Picnik, Buzz, Aardvark, Sidewiki, the list goes on. Does anyone even remember Google Notebook, or Google Dictionary? Google Labs most will remember, and Wave is a famous failure, as was Dodgeball and Jaiku. Other Google projects that failed without making much of dent at all in the universe include SearchWiki and Lively, Page Creator, and Google Answers.

“To celebrate the end of Google Reader on July 1, we’ve created this Google Graveyard of failed/discontinued products to commemorate the event,” WordStream founder Larry Kim emailed me.

Here it is in all its glory. Click the image to view it full-size in it’s own window.
