1. Smove | Singapore


Smove, the Singapore-based startup that brings (relatively) eco-friendly cars to passengers looking to get around town, has announced it has raised a funding round led by Rebright Partners, and with contributions by 500 Startups, Wavemaker Pacific, and five unnamed investors.



2. 8villages | Indonesia


8villages is a hub that connect farmers and give them information about agricultural topics like crop prices, weather forecasts, and farming tips. The startup announced that it’s working with local telco XL Axiata and Gajah Mada University’s faculty of agriculture to offer Indonesian farmers free access to that information via SMS.



3. ShopperBoard | Singapore


With the online retail landscape getting increasingly cluttered, ShopperBoard wants to make window-shopping possible in the world of online retail, and terms themselves as a Pinterest-style social network for shopping. The company launched their iOS and Android apps this week, and in the last six months, they have seen a monthly user growth rate of 20 percent.



4. Qiscus | Indonesia


Created by a Yogyakarta startup, Qiscus allows you to chat and work with your colleagues in multiple rooms. The startup basic package lets unlimited numbers of people use it for free, while the premium package offers more features like video calling and email integration. It’s all aimed at a global audience, with the premium level priced at USD 6.40 per month.



5. Boatbay | Singapore and Australia


Singapore- and Sydney-based boat rental marketplace Boatbay, according to the founders, is like th the “Airbnb for boating, yachting and people who want to experience a social activity on the water”. The service enables an owner to earn money out of his or her boat, while making luxury boating activities affordable and more easily accessible for the masses.



6. Valuklik | Indonesia


Valuklik is an Indonesia-based online agency that offers SEO, SEM, and advanced Analytics services to clients, and has recently received a round of seed funding from venture capital firm East Ventures.



7. Red Dot Payment | Singapore


Founded in 2011, Red Dot Payment, a Singapore-based online payment processing company with a focus on Southeast Asia, has announced that they have secured series A funding “in the low millions” from two investors, GMO Global Payment Fund and Wavemaker Pacific. The company has a payment gateway that doesn’t require coding skills on the merchant’s part, an invoicing tool, a promotions platform, and a service that turns social media pages into stores.



8. Wander | Singapore


Social travel app Wander helps you find other singles to travel with. By entering your destination into the app, it will show you other singles who are heading to that same place. From there, you can match up with a person of your choice, and start planning your adventure.



9. Freecharge | India


FreeCharge gifts freebies to users who recharge their prepaid mobile phones, direct-to-home satellite television connections, or data cards through its platform. The startup has raised series B funding from Sequoia Capital, Belgium-based Sofina, and Russia’s Ru-Net.



10. MoneyTree | Japan


Moneytree allows users to visualize their spending habits in one convenient location by connecting to more than 1,300 Japanese banks and credit card companies. The startup also added point tracking for the country’s ubiquitous reward cards and allows users to manually input paper transactions. Moneytree is one of the finalists for Startup Asia Tokyo 2014 Arena competition.



11. GudangImpor | Indonesia


Jakarta-based ecommerce site GudangImpor aims to become the hub for Indonesian shoppers looking for overseas products. Compared to the local ecommerce giants that can utilize Rocket Internet funding and enjoy sophisticated infrastructure, GudangImpor looks much more like a mom-and-pop shop; the embodiment of a localized micro business making good in Indonesia.



12. EZTable | Taiwan


Taiwan-based EZTable lets diners book table reservations at high-end restaurants through a mobile app. Restaurants pay to subscribe to the company’s business-facing app, and hostesses can accept reservations a smartphone. Consumers, meanwhile, can use the service to reserve a spot at the latest chic bistro, but they can also purchase vouchers on their meals, which EZTable takes a 10 to 15 percent cut of. EZTable emerged champion at the recent Startup Asia Tokyo 2014 Arena competition.



13. Capy | Japan


Tokyo-based startup Capy is hoping to replace Captcha as a clearer – and more secure – alternative. Capy uses four kinds of tests: puzzle, freestyle puzzle, text, and text without Javascript. The startup is one of the finalists for Startup Asia Tokyo 2014 Arena competition.



14. Kaizen Platform | Japan


Launched in early 2013, Kaizen Platform’s main product is planBCD. Users can login and challenge a community of growth hackers to devise the perfect A/B test for improving underperforming conversion rates on web pages. The startup is one of the finalists for Startup Asia Tokyo 2014 Arena competition.



15. 8securities | Hong Kong


Wealth management startup 8 Securities has a social trading dashboard now has over 20,000 actively trading accounts and manages just under US$800 million of assets, mostly in Japan. The startup is one of the finalists for Startup Asia Tokyo 2014 Arena competition.



16. KreditGoGo | Indonesia


Launched in March 2014, KreditGoGo is a platform that helps people compare and apply for financial products. The site has personal loans, car credits, mortgages, credit cards, and health insurance from over 27 financial service institutions.



17. Appota | Vietnam


Appota is a social mobile gaming platform aimed at casual and pro gamers who want to interact through their favorite mobile games. The mobile app is meant to be an evolution on the social gaming platforms that already exist. It’s product, onClan, provides the frontend interface for gamers to chat with each other, post tutorials, socially share achievements, and recommend new games. In other words, it’s like a Facebook for gamers. The startup is one of the finalists for Startup Asia Tokyo 2014 Arena competition.



18. PicoCandy | Singapore


PicoCandy’s business consists of two components. First, their platform provides startups with ready-made sticker stores. Second, it powers existing sticker stores with content. Companies that do not have the infrastructure in place already can take advantage of PicoCandy’s provided SDK and build a full sticker store right into their app with only a couple lines of code. The startup also provides a marketplace for content creators to sell their stickers, partnering with both brand licenses and designers who actively use their platform to distribute their stickers. The startup is one of the finalists for Startup Asia Tokyo 2014 Arena competition.
