The second Project Ara Module Developers Conference is coming to Asia. The first event will be held on January 14, 2015 in Google’s headquarters in Mountain View, with satellite events in New York City, Buenos Aires, and London.
It will then hit Asia a week later on January 21, 2015 in Singapore with the same agenda. Bangalore, Tokyo, Taipei, and Shanghai will serve as the satellite locations connected via bi-directional video. The speakers will be located in Mountain View and Singapore, although other locations won’t be left out as Project Ara team members will be present.
Applications must come in no later than December 2, and registration fees will cost between US$25 to US$200. The conferences will focus on the next major release of the Ara Mobile Developers Kit (version 0.20). They will highlight the changes and hold demos of the platform.
Project Ara is an attempt by Google to reinvent the mobile phone. Instead of a single unit of metal, silicon and glass, Project Ara conceives the phone as modules – like Lego blocks that can be dissembled, replaced, and combined based on features you want.
