Estimated to become a US$11 billion market, the growth of Indonesia’s ecommerce scene is influenced by factors including logistics and payment systems. Doku, one of the biggest epayment gateways in Indonesia, revealed some impressive numbers this year.
The company offers three products: epayment gateway for merchants, an ewallet, and MyShortCart, which allows social media merchants to accept online payments. Here are some highlights of Doku’s achievements in 2014:
- Processing Rp 6.5 trillion (US$520 million) this year, an increase from last year’s Rp 5 trillion (US$401 million) worth of transactions. The company has now processed over US$1.6 billion in payments over seven years.
- A huge increase in partnering merchants, from 600 at Q1 2013 to 2,800 at Q4 2014. This involves merchants from various backgrounds like corporates and individual sellers.
- 100,000 users who have paid online using Doku Wallet. The ewallet recorded 700 percent growth in transaction value.
- MyShortCart records 380 percent transaction growth. Note that MyShortCart may not have that much traction thus far since it was only launched in July last year.
Besides all that, Doku opened a representative office in Bali this year. The team also recently soft launched its ecommerce site Popazop, which showcases selected merchant partners.
Doku’s biggest rival in the country when it comes to epayments is Veritrans. As for ewallets, Doku is facing off against Telkomsel’s TCash, XL Axiata’s XL Tunai, Indosat’s Dompetku, and BBM Money.
LakuBgt is similar to Doku’s MyShortCart services, which could also help social media sellers accept online payments.
