Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who led India to its first cricket world cup victory in 28 years, its first T20 world cup victory and the top spot in the game’s one-day international and test rankings, has announced his retirement from test cricket.

Dhoni’s decision to move away from the longer form of the game comes amid the Indian team’s tour of Australia, with one test match remaining in the series. He will, however, continue to play in other formats of the game.
Although India’s most successful test captain with 27 wins, the 33-year-old has struggled to maintain his record in recent years, particularly in overseas test encounters.
