Interbrand has just released their 2014 Best China Brands Report, which values the top fifty brands in China based on overall sales, customer influence, and category position. More than anything, these new rankings showcase the growing influence of technology and internet brands with Alibaba debuting at the number three position, and Tencent unseating perennial power China Mobile in the top position due to a 70% increase in brand value most likely due to the growing influence of WeChat. Although financial services brands still make up the majority of brand value among the top fifty, internet services brands are the second most valuable group having grown from 11% last year to contributing 24% of total brand value in 2014.
