Now that we’re in 2015, it’s a good time to take a look at the latest tech numbers in your country. Social marketing agency We Are Social today released a huge report, collating data from numerous sources on the latest digital numbers around the world.
This time, we’re focusing on the fourth largest nation in the world in terms of population: Indonesia. Here’s what the country looks like in numbers.
- 72.7 million active internet users (sadly that’s 0 percent growth from 2014)
- 72 million active social media accounts, 62 million of which are mobile users
- 308.2 million mobile connections, 99 percent of which are prepaid users
When taking a deeper look into what has happened in the past year, you’ll see that 50 percent of all online activity in Indonesia is done on mobile. Laptops and desktops account for 45 percent of the activity, while tablets get only 4 percent of the action.
As for the most popular social networks in Indonesia, Facebook, Twitter, and Google Plus top the list. Interestingly, although Indonesia has become the main market for Path, the report suggests that Instagram and Pinterest are still more popular than the private social network.
There are numerous chat apps battling for supremacy in Indonesia, and according to the report, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Skype, and Line take the lead in the archipelago.
