Last time, we learned that King of Fighters is on Steam, right? Well, that’s not all that’s happening with King of Fighters (KoF), as the popular fighting game from SNK Playmore is taking a major turn by releasing a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) version. It is currently being developed by Thailand’s True Digital Plus and Korea’s Dragonfly.
The official Thai website is currently up, though some links such as the download and the register links are still unavailable. The home page features five characters namely, Kyo Kusanagi, Terry Bogard, Griffon, Iori Yagami, and Joe Higashi although screenshots from the official website reveal characters including Maxima, Kasumi Todoh, and Ralf Jones among others. The mini-map shows us the usual MOBA layout with the opposing bases located at the top right and bottom left both connected by three lanes. Game balance in the MOBA version of KoF is one of the things we are looking at, as it is interesting to see how a fighting game could transition into a multiplayer team game on a more strategic scale.
The closed beta testing (CBT) phase for Thailand servers is planned to start on September 4. KOF MOBA also has a Facebook Page, which is also in Thai.
