In 2015, we have the first funding news coming from Indonesia. Bornevia, an SaaS startup which offers customer relationship management (CRM) software, announced today that it has raised an undisclosed amount of pre-series A funding from East Ventures1 and Beenos Partners (formerly Netprice). Bornevia plans to use the newly injected cash for hiring and marketing.

Bornevia’s first product is a website-based software program that handles online customer support. From the startup’s platform, companies can interact with their users on social media channels and emails using a ticket management system.

In March or April, Bornevia will launch its second CRM product called Team Inbox, which will help smooth internal communication between different teams within a company. For example, a sales team can organize their lead database and update other teams about the progress. Or, the HR team could track all conversations regarding a prospective hire, and assign team members relevant tasks.

CEO Benny Tjia says that these tools are how his startup differentiates itself from other CRM software providers like Zendesk and Salesforce. However, each of them does offer more complete solutions for each area. Zendesk, which focuses on customer support, offers integration to more third party apps as well as live chatting feature.

Targeting 10,000 company users in 2015

After operating for about a year, Bornevia has four leaders: Tjia (CEO), Tjiu Suryanto (CTO), Cipta Pratama (creative director), and Michaela Nathania (engineering director). Tjia has experience working in Silicon Valley while Suryanto went to college in the US. Pratama previously held the position of manager at Indonesia’s digital agency XM Gravity, while Nathania worked as a senior software engineer at a local startup, and an assistant coach to the Indonesian Informatics Olympiad Team.

Bornevia claims to have served 1,100 companies and 1,500 users from over 60 countries. Tjia did not disclose how many of them are paying users. The team aims to get at least 10,000 companies on board by the end of 2015, and become a profitable business in late 2016. To achieve all that, Bornevia has three interns and will welcome five new team members in Q1 2015.

In July 2013, Bornevia received investment from an undisclosed angel investor. The team plans to raise series A round in late 2015.
