This chart from Erwan Rambourg’s “The Bling Dynasty: Why the Reign of Chinese Luxury Shoppers Has Only Just Begun,” captures the growing influence of Chinese shoppers on the global luxury market. The author forecasts that some 75 million Chinese consumers will contribute 35% of all global luxury sales in 2015, with this number growing to 50% over the next ten years as more and more wealth is created on the mainland. Although luxury brands have reported declining sales in recent quarters, many Chinese shoppers have merely shifted to spending while abroad to avoid import duties, while the vast spending potential beyond China’s first and second-tier cities awaits. [Business Insider]
