English version of mobile game Dragonsaga Prelude coming to Southeast Asia

Asiasoft’s luck with mobile games has picked up only recently, but the company is working well within the mobile game publishing timeline to end 2014, as told by its CEO Pramoth Sudjitporn to Games in Asia in a recent interview.

Sudjitporn promised that Asiasoft would be releasing seven mobile games for different territories before the end of the year, and it’s doing just that. The latest mobile game we’ve learned about is Dragonsaga Prelude, a mobile Dragonsaga game developed by South Korean studio Funigloo.

Dragonsaga Prelude was first released for the South Korean market via Kakao in April, and can be played here. It’s very similar to its PC sibling, with the same instance-based hack-and-slash action. Dragonsaga for the PC was slated to be published under NHN Singapore a couple of years back, but never saw the light of day. The game uses the same assets as the old favorite, Dragonica, an early instance-based hack-and-slash PC MMORPG published by IAH Games, which could explain the visual similarity between the two.

At G-Star 2014, a Funigloo rep told us that Dragonsaga Prelude will be published by Asiasoft in Southeast Asia. Asiasoft’s marketing communications manager Ian Purnomo has confirmed it will be publishing the game, but did not provide specific launch details.

Asiasoft will likely be publishing an English version, and possibly localizing the game into other Southeast Asian languages as well.

While we don’t have many more details to share about Dragonsaga Prelude, you can check out its trailer here:
