At its very simplest O2O can be described as the use of mobile or internet devices to find retail purchase opportunities nearby. Although this trend is not unique to the mainland, Chinese consumers’ emergence as the most connected group on the planet, coupled with the drive to find the best deals available, make it a population base that will be particularly responsive to these types of strategies – as already evidenced by the immense popularity of group purchasing in China.
